Frequently asked questions

Q: What is your photography and editing style?
A: First and foremost, we are not trend chasers. This means that, by staying true to a film photography aesthetic, we avoid elements that will make your images feel dated a decade from now. And by keeping backgrounds and lighting simple, we elevate human connection and give it the freedom to shine. Our editing style works in service of this goal, as well, ensuring proper exposure, color, and contrast. Every photo in your final gallery will be hand-edited with care and precision, and every photo ordered through the online gallery as an 8x10 photo or larger will be fully retouched, too.

Q: How long have you been in the wedding photography business?
A: We’ve been in business since 2007, and since opening our “doors” we’ve photographed over 300 weddings! Before entering into the wedding business, I received a BFA in Photography from Savannah College of Art and Design and worked as a commercial photographer. You can read a bit more about that chapter in my life here. Mark, my associate photographer, also brings more than a decade of wedding photography experience with him, and he is also the owner of a film lab here in Maine serving photographers from all over the world!

Q: So, what is an associate photographer?
A: We use the word “associate photographer” to describe an experienced, professional photographer with more than three years of experience photographing weddings, but currently find themselves without the desire to own or operate their own studio. Here at Rachel Buckley Weddings, we currently have one associate photographer, Mark, and you can get to know him a little here!

Q: Do you photograph on film or digital?
A: Although we are experienced film photographers, we primarily photograph digitally.

Q: Do you provide videography services?
A: We do not currently offer in-house videography services. However, we’ve had the joy to work with many talented videographers throughout New England, and we can’t wait to introduce them to you! In fact, we provide a detailed, curated vendor list immediately after booking to help you make any of those difficult vendor decisions!

Q: How do you work during a wedding day?
A: We pride ourselves on our ability to capture genuine moments unobtrusively and naturally without disrupting sincere emotions. Outside of portraits, most images will be candid in nature, allowing you to truly relive your wedding day as it happened. During portraits, however, we are much more hands on, guiding poses and assisting nervous family or bridal party members. By focusing on human interaction even during posed sessions, we are able to fill galleries with true-to-you personality and dynamic energy! Q: How long until we get to enjoy our full wedding day gallery, and how will it be delivered?
A: Just 4-6 weeks after your wedding day, you’ll receive a link to a password protected, online gallery. From there, you will be able to down your images, share them with loved ones, and order prints. If your collection includes a USB drive, you’ll receive it 4 weeks after your gallery is delivered, and if your collection includes an album, you’ll receive it 8-12 weeks after final design approval.

Q: How do we create our photo album if our collection includes one?
A: Once you’ve selected a collection that includes an album -- or if you decide to add one on at any step in the process -- we will send you a guide fully explaining the entire process. Then, if you have any leftover questions, we can answer them for you!

Q: Will you help us figure out what to wear for our engagement photos?
A: Absolutely! It’s important to us that you’re never left hanging at any point in the process -- from booking to final delivery! Because of this, you’ll receive a detailed style guide upon booking filled with information on what to expect during your engagement session, how to plan for it, and, yes, even what to wear.

Q: This all sounds amazing! How do we save our date?
A: Wonderful! We can’t wait to work with you! To reserve your date, all we will need is a signed event agreement and a paid retainer fee. So, send a message our way so we can begin crafting your dream wedding photography experience!
